Kuten etukäteen tiedettiin vastus koveni huomattavasti. Mulligan'sin miehet ovat pelimiehiä, kovia vanhoja luita ja muutama nuorempi. Olimme alussa suurissa vaikeuksissa heidän syöttönsä kanssa. Se ei näyttänyt vaikealta, mutta me emme saaneet sitä verkolle oikein millään kuin satunnaisesti. Ja kun saatiin hyökkäys  aikaiseksi niin vastustajan puolustus haki peliin kovatkin iskulyönnit. Niin muodoin hävisimme kaksi ensimmäistä erää 25-22 ja 25-20.

Nyt olimme niin sanotusti selkä seinää vasten ja niin vaan kävi, että lehti kääntyi. Saimme syöttöömme tarvittavaa kovuutta ja nostomme rauhoittui. Voiton myötä ilmeetkin muuttuivat ja aloimme nauttia pelaamisesta. Vaihtoruletin pyöriessä jokaisessa erässä pelikin näytti jo osittain lentopallolta. Neljännessä erässä taisi meidän parempi kunto tulla esiin, koska siinä pelattiin erä ehkä selkeimmin meille, pistein 11-25. Erätauolla korostimme sitä, että peli ei ole vielä ohi vaan on pelattava loppuun saakka. Puolia vaihdoimme tilanteessa 2-8 ja erä tuntui selvältä. Mulligan's oli vielä eri mieltä. He panostivat loputkin mehut voittaakseen, mutta tällä kertaa se ei aivan riittänyt. Niin saimme viidennen erän 8-15 ja otteluvoiton 2-3.
